This document is an affidavit from Adam and Mary (Hays) Haun, attesting to the marriage of James Hays, Sr. and Mary Kuhn; and identifying them as the parents of James Hays, Jr.  Apparently, Adam Haun and James' brother David were to provide testimony, but James' sister Mary became a last minute replacement.  It's unclear why James asked relatives living in Pennsylvania to give testimony when Daniel and Elizabeth (Hays) Mattocks were living in Fayette County, Iowa at the time.  The affidavit shows James' and Mary's marriage date and place, and Mary's death date. 

1. James Hays Sr. and Mary Kuhn marriage date/place:  16 Nov 1820, Pymatuning Twp., Mercer County, Pennsylvania.

2. Mary (Kuhn) Hays death date:  06 Feb 1858.

3.James Hays the younger is referred to as James Hays, Jr.
